Boys/Girls Varsity Bowling vs. East Jackson HS School

Game Date
Feb 13, 2024

The Hanover-Horton Lady Comet Bowlers consisting of Abby Barba, Liz Curry, Brooke Hadley, Arianna Uhl, and Charlie Worden took on the East Jackson Trojans for the second time this season on Tuesday. The Comets knew this match was going to be a tough one after the winner of the last matchup with East Jackson was determined in the final frame of the match. Down their anchor bowler who was out with illness, the ladies focused up and took on the challenge. In the first baker game, though the spare game was not thriving, the Comets were able to find the pocket and grab a couple of strikes resulting in a 134 to the Trojans' 101. The second baker, the Comets were not quite as lucky putting up a 102 to the opposing 110. This was enough, however to snag totals giving the Comets a 6-4 lead after the bakers. Throughout the regular games the Lady Comets faced some challenges on the mental side of the bowling game. They were able to pull through, though grabbing 4 of the match points (some by just a few pins) and totals from the first game, and 3 of the match points from the second game to secure the win. Again, similar to the first time around, this match came down to the last game. Coach Matthew is very proud of his girls for staying tough and digging deep throughout this match. The Comets were led by Abby Barba 138 (261 series), Liz Curry with a season best 138 (222 series), and Brooke Hadley 132 (247 series). The final score had the Comets on top, 17-13. This win gives the team a record of 9-9 on the season. They next face the Cardinals of Michigan Center at Suburban Lanes on Wednesday. This will be the final match before the post-season tournaments.

The Team of Elias Wykoff, Cooper Donders, Noah Dekamp,Grant Cure and Joe Davis lined up against our neighbors to the southwest Jonesville.  The Comets have improved  so much since the beginning of the season but their success is not measured in wins and losses but in growth of the team as well as individual average.   The match started with 2 solid bakers 163-165 but were down 0-10 moving into the regulars.  Unfortunately they could not get the engine started and could only manage 1.5 points in the match…losing to a potential state champion 1.5-28.5.  Led by Noah Dekamp 161-169, Elias Wykoff 166 , Joe Davis 165.

Bowling Results from Monday February  12th:

The team consisting of Cooper Donders, Noah DeKamp, Gabe OConnor, Grant Cure and Joe Davis  battled the Jayhawks of Vandy on Monday and scrapped their way to a 24-6 Victory.  Led by Joe Davis with a season high 443 set (236-207), Noah Dekamp with 180-186,Grant Cure 189-155.   What a great win for our Comets….Great Job Men!

Bowling Results from Tuesday February 13th:

The team consisting of Cooper Donders, Noah DeKamp, Gabe OConnor, Grant Cure, Elias Wykoff, Cam Smith and Joe Davis  took on a tough East Jackson team Tuesday night . Once again the Comets came out with a pair of strong bakers but were down 4-6 to start the regulars.  Although they fought hard they ran out of gas and lost 6-24.   Led by Joe Davis beating his season high in consecutive days 481 set (202-279), Noah Dekamp 165.   The flu bug is hitting the team hard and with a rigorous schedule it playing havoc out the team.  We have another Match tonight vs Michigan Center at Suburban Lanes to round out the regular season and will be moving into post season starting Saturday for Conference Singles at Jax60 9am.
